My First Month at Flourish as an Intern Developer

I can’t believe I’ve been working at Flourish for almost a month already, my placement year is going to fly by!

Over the last two years, I have been studying Digital Media at UWE and have now joined Flourish for a year internship. Starting a full-time job for the first time was a daunting prospect, and being accustomed to student life, the early starts were difficult to begin with. However, coming into Flourish has been a massively positive experience, everyone has been very welcoming and friendly, and I feel like I have settled in quickly.

Before getting this internship, I didn’t realise how much work goes into developing digital marketing campaigns. I am finding it really interesting being able to work on real client briefs and observing the process each of the projects go through from design to development. My job so far has involved building emails mainly for Samsung, in which I have been able to improve my front-end HTML and CSS skills and am learning best practices for developing campaigns. I have also started learning how to use Adobe Animate to make animated banners which is a new skill for me. The other developers have been very supportive and patient, and I have learnt so much already (thank you Katie and Nick!). Being able to go and have lunch overlooking the Suspension Bridge has also been an added bonus.

I look forward to the rest of my year at Flourish!
